have you been to...

MAUI?!

With most of the wedding planning check list crossed off, we're finally thinking a bit about our honeymoon. It's been on the back burner up until now, and the only thing we really have planned are our flights and hotels. While I'm sure that it's hard to go to Hawaii and not have the best time - I'd love to go with a short list of must see/must do items.

For those who have been before - what do you recommend? Thanks friends! The countdown is on - 33 days until the day.

  7. I was in Maui twice last year! Where are you staying?? I like food - A LOT, so I have some pretty great restaurant recommendations, depending on where you are staying, but one of my FAVORITES, for both the food and the view was Humuhumunukunukuapua. So amazing. (the first pic in this post is from that restaurant: http://newonu.blogspot.com/2011/11/favorite-hawaii-trip-memories.html) We also went snorkeling on the Alli Nui, which is one of the best boats in Maui. And of course the 2 am bike ride to the volcano is a must.

    Have a great time!

  9. Do the drive on the road to Hana! So pretty and worth all the twists and turns. We also did a fishing trip (I caught a 67 lb Marlin, best arm workout ever!!) and the early morning trip up to Haleakala.

  13. Maui is gorgeous. We split our honeymoon between Maui and Kauai. Mama's Fish House is a great place to go for dinner. The Road to Hana is beautiful- it's very curvy and you basically drive out to Hana and back. Let me know if you want other advice! :)

  17. I just went to Maui at the end of February! My favorite part of the trip was snorkeling at Molokini and Turtle Town — I went with the Pacific Whale Foundation, and it was absolutely amazing. Also highly recommend driving the road to Hana and the 7 pools. It will take you all day, but the scenery is breathtaking. The posts from my trip are here. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

  19. Just catching up on blog posts now -- we got back from Maui on Sunday! It was AMAZING. You will LOVE it! You definitely have to rent snorkel gear (we got ours decently priced from Boss Frogs - there are a couple of locations) and check out a few different beaches. We liked the snorkeling best at Kapalua Bay. It was like being in an aquarium! We also snorkeled at Honolua Bay and Napili Beach. If you're on the northwest side of the island, check out the Olivine Pools - natural tide pools that you can go in (amazing!) We had a great dinner at Haliimaile General Store one night. We went ziplining through Kapalua Adventures - it was awesome! We did not do the Road to Hana because I was getting carsick, but I have heard great things about it. I put some photos on my blog yesterday. Have so much fun!!!

  20. Hi i had to write because i have been to Maui at least once per year for 20 years and was married there and honeymooned on Lanai. A few things you would love :
the little town of Paia has Baldwin beach which is worth a visit and ask a local how to get to baby beach-there is a natural breakwater forming a swimming pool in the ocean. While in Paia go to the Fishmarket. Its on the only corner in the two street town and have the MahiMahi burger-famous fish burger. Depending on which end of the island you are spend a day on napili beach and have lunch at the restaurant on the beach at Napili Kai resort-totally old school and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. IN Wailea you should go the Four Seasons and spend the day on their beach-all beaches are public and its always full of random celebrities. In the morning they have free coffee and tea by the poolside restaurant Duo and the lobby bar has the best Mai Tai on the island and at five pm every night they have a hula dancer in the bar with a singer and they light the torches all over the property-lovely. Makena beach is a massive gorgeous beach but be sure to take an umbrella-no shade. And take a walk over the little hill to little makena-hilarious nude beach! Hailemaile General Store is worth the drive-super charming and always go at least once while there! Mahalo
