Wedding Week: the attire

I knew exactly what I wanted in a wedding dress. Sweetheart neckline, semi large skirt {preferably with pockets}, and hell no, I did not want anything form fitting around my hips and/or behind. I knew exactly what I wanted in a wedding dress - and then I bought the exact opposite.

Wedding dress shopping never resulted in an "ah-ha" moment, tears of joy, or a real sense that I had found the "one". Instead, I had an unsuccessful trip shopping in Manhattan with my mother, sisters, and grandmother, and then a bit of a panic attack after I purchased the below dress with my mother in law in Chicago. Despite questioning my choice early on, I fell head over heels in love with my dress, and cannot imagine wearing any other on my wedding day. 

I wore a simple veil that consisted of one layer of ivory tool - just for pictures and the ceremony. I also switched back and forth between a feminine flowery ivory belt, and a clean modern black belt throughout the day. 

My bridesmaids were thrilled that I chose short black silk taffeta dresses from J.Crew for them. They chose between two pairs of silver pumps to add a little sparkle to their look. The guys wore classic black tuxedos with black skinny ties {that were gifted to them the morning of the wedding}. 

yep, they made great use of their heinkercfhiefs. boys.
