Happy Monday! I'm kicking off the week with one of my favorite giveaways on the blog to date.
If you haven't heard of Smitten Kitchen, I'm sorry you've been missing out. You should head over immediately and be prepared to drool over every single concoction that comes out Deb's kitchen. From the sweet, to the savory, to main meals, simple snacks, and decant desserts, this woman has it covered. One thing is obvious, she has a love for food, and it's evident in every single recipe.
Needless to say, I was beyond excited when I heard Smitten Kitchen was expanding beyond a blog - to a book. A cookbook - filled with so much goodness. I'm looking forward to making:
a butternut squash and caramelized onion galette, sweet peas and shells alfredo, tomato scallion shortcakes with whipped goat cheese (pictured on the cover), cheddar swirl breakfast buns, and pretty much the entire sweets section which includes things like - salted brown butter crispy treats, buttered popcorn cookies, chocolate hazelnut crepe cake, and a s'more layer cake. Basically, Deb's a genius.
So - I'm giving away three cookbooks!
Let's keep things simple: To enter, please make sure you're following Simply Irresistible - then leave a comment here letting me know one of your favorite Smitten Kitchen recipes {it could be something you've made, something you're dying to try, or something you heard would be in her cookbook}. The official release date is October 30th - and I'm hoping to get these to you just prior to then.
I'll choose a winner Friday morning {10/26}. Good luck!

I love *all* recipes I try, from her pb cookies to her buckeyes. But my all-time favorite, and I make this ALL the time, is the loaded baked potato soup. Seriously, it's unbeatable, and the best soup I've ever tried. Also, following your blog!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I could pick a favorite, but I've been making the recipes from her website for years. The most recent one I made was the pumpkin cinnamon rolls on Sunday. Though I think the one I ate the fastest was the plum kuchen. The one currently next on the list to make is wheat thins.
ReplyDeleteI've never made anything from SK that WASN'T amazing!! A new favourite is definitely the cranberry almond caramel tart. I made it for Thanksgiving this year and it was a huge hit! i just started following your blog, and am looking forward to going back through your archives! :)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite recipe of Deb's is actually her banana bread - not the one with millet it in, but the one with bourbon in it (of course!). ReplyDeleteI have bookmarked so many of Deb's recipes! Most recently the fig, olive oil, and sea salt challah, the pumpkin cinnamon rolls, and the pink lemonade bars. Last thing I made from Smitten Kitchen was probably scones of some sort - maybe the oat & maple syrup ones?
ReplyDeleteNow following your blog as well via google reader.

I usually make them with chocolate chips and dried cherries, but I've also made them with white chocolate and other dried fruit, just chocolate chips, chocolate and butterscotch chips, and chocolate chips and toasted pecans. They're always great and always a hit.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to try the apple mosaic tart :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely mini apple pie cookies. I am trying them ASAP. :-)
ReplyDeleteI made the pancetta, white bean and chard pot pies this weekend. Huge hit and delicious leftovers.
ReplyDeleteDeb's Bittersweet Chocolate and Pear Cake was my first attempt at fancy baking as a freshman in college. It was thanks to this recipe that I discovered the wonders of brown butter, a nifty little trick that I have since performed many times to make even the simplest recipes taste that much better. The nutty, sweet cake combined with the pear chunks and bittersweet chocolate is my favorite, and I top it with hand-whipped cream. Since my first freshman try, I've made it many times for many different occasions, and it's starting to become a life recipe!
ReplyDeleteActually impossible to pick a favorite, seems that anything Deb posts is my favorite of the day, week, month, season or year! She is a genius - my number 1 go to site for a quiet dinner at home , for a major dinner party or for something to bring as a house gift.

ReplyDeleteJust found you on twitter! Smitten Kitchen is one of my favorite blogs and I'm always telling people about it. Every year I make the Whole Wheat Apple Muffins, usually more than once. They've become one of my go-to recipes and I just started a blog myself :)

Yep, obsessed with her site! . They turned out alright. My friend was right, you can rarely go wrong with Deb's recipes!
I've made so much on Smitten Kitchen. In fact, my cooking blog (plug: notquitegourmet.blogspot.com ) is perhaps more akin to a tribute to her and Jacques Pepin. By and large they are my two go-to chefs.
